LGBTQ Issue

Education is a provincial issue and what our kids learn in school impacts every Pakistani Canadian or Immigrant living in Canada. Gender Identity and Parental Rights was the core of fight between competing groups. We Pakistani in particular and Muslims in general lacked the awareness on this issue as a community.

Protest sprouted up in Windsor and many communities across Canada on in September 2023 as opposing groups loudly clashed on how schools address issues of gender identity and how teachers refer to transgender youth.

Pakistan Canada Association Windsor with the help of Dominion Mosque, Al Hijra Mosque, Rose City Mosque, Imam Hussain Foundation and Dar e Batool engaged in a dialogue with MPP Lisa Gretzky and facilitated a dinner of the leaders.

MPP Lisa Gretzky assisted in opening the doors with school board and the Muslim leadership group have 2 meeting with the Director of Education on Pride Flag and Sex Curriculum issues.
